Welcome! ¡Bienvenido! Bem-Vindo!

Hola, Welcome to my blog. My name is Levi Flint. I am a Spanish 101 and 102 instructor at Northern Arizona University as well as a graduate student in the Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language program. My interests are South American Spanish and Portuguese language, history, and music. After graduation my plan is to spend time studying Brazilian Portuguese abroad in South America while teaching English. I hope to return to pursue a PhD with a focus on Latin American Spanish & Portuguese, language teaching and history.

The goals of this blog are to teach Spanish and Portuguese through popular music in Latin America and Spain and to provide links to online resources for Spanish and Portuguese learning.

Typically, you will see a Youtube video with a song and lyrics. Next will be vocabulary flashcards, utilizing important vocabulary from the song. You have the option of flashcards, a scatter game, and finally, a quiz over the vocabulary. I am attempting to provide a Wikipedia link to the band's / artist's biography page for reading practice in either Spanish or Portuguese.

My newest page on this blog is dedicated to providing further study about a particular Latin American country's music (in English). Simply go to the page and click on the country listed and you will be taken the wikipedia page. This page will give you a better understanding of how language, history, and culture are intertwined in each particular country.

Hopefully by using this tool I have created you will become better connected to music in Latin America; improve you listening skills, vocabulary knowledge; and finally, explore the online resources I have added to the home page.

Please leave any comments or suggestions below.

¡Gracias! Obrigado! Thanks!
